Frequently asked questions
How does pickup work?
When you order, you choose a pickup window. Come to the pickup address during that window, give your name, and take your order. The address is in the footer of every page and in your confirmation email.
If you are running late, send a text. Refrigerated items can wait a short while in a cooler, but not all evening.
Do you deliver?
Local delivery within Ames is planned. The delivery area and fee are being finalized; until then, all orders are pickup.
Why is there an order cutoff?
Everything is made to order in one batch. Batters need to soak, grind, and ferment overnight, so orders close a couple of days before pickup. The yellow line at the top of every page shows the current cutoff.
Can I cancel or change my order?
Yes, up to the order cutoff. Email or text and you get a full refund. After the cutoff your ingredients are already soaking, so changes and refunds are no longer possible.
If something is wrong with your order, say so and it will be made right with a replacement or a refund.
How do you handle allergens?
Every product lists its full ingredients, and any of the major allergens it contains appears as a red badge on the menu, the product page, and the container label.
This is a single home kitchen, so items with different allergens are prepared in the same space at different times. If you have a severe allergy, read the badges and ask before ordering.
How long does everything keep?
It varies by item. Each product page has a storage section. As a rule: fermented batters keep about 5 days refrigerated, wet chutneys about 4 days refrigerated, and dry podis about 2 months in a sealed jar.
How do I pay?
You pay by card when you place the order, through Stripe. Nothing is due at pickup, and no cash changes hands.
